Serengeti National Park
The Serengeti is Tanzania’s most iconic safari destination and one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries on Earth. Known for its endless golden plains, it hosts the annual Great Migration, when millions of wildebeest and zebras travel in search of greener pastures.
Visitors can witness dramatic river crossings, lion prides on the hunt, and unforgettable sunrises over the savannah.
Ngorongoro Crater
Formed two million years ago from a collapsed volcano, the Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and a natural wonder.
Its fertile floor is home to a dense concentration of wildlife, including black rhinos, elephants, and lions. The Maasai people still graze their cattle along the rim, creating a unique coexistence of humans and wildlife.
Mount Kilimanjaro
At 5,895 meters, Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa’s highest peak and one of the Seven Summits. This dormant volcano rises dramatically from the plains, crowned with glaciers.
Trekkers from around the world attempt to reach its Uhuru Peak, passing through rainforest, moorland, and alpine desert before arriving at the summit’s icy slopes.
Tarangire National Park
Zanzibar Island
Just off the Tanzanian coast lies Zanzibar, often called the “Spice Island.” A place where history and relaxation meet, Zanzibar combines the labyrinthine streets and historic mosques of Stone Town (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) with idyllic beaches and turquoise waters.
Visitors can tour spice plantations, sail on traditional dhows, dive among coral reefs, and relax on powdery white sands — making it the perfect complement to a safari.
Mafia Island
For those seeking something beyond Zanzibar, Mafia Island offers pristine beaches and world-class marine life.
It is part of the Mafia Island Marine Park, where divers and snorkelers can swim with whale sharks, explore coral reefs, and enjoy the tranquility of an island largely untouched by mass tourism.
Nyerere National Park
Covering an area larger than Switzerland, the Selous (now officially Nyerere National Park) is Africa’s largest protected reserve.
It offers a wilder, less-visited safari experience with boat trips on the Rufiji River, walking safaris, and classic game drives. Its landscapes range from miombo woodlands to wide-open plains, home to elephants, wild dogs, and hippos.
Ruaha National Park
Located in central Tanzania, Ruaha is the country’s largest park and one of Africa’s wildest safari destinations. Remote and less visited, it offers an untouched wilderness of rolling hills, baobab plains, and the Great Ruaha River.
The park hosts East Africa’s largest elephant population, large prides of lions, and endangered African wild dogs. With over 570 bird species, Ruaha is a paradise for birdwatchers as well. Its remoteness ensures an intimate, crowd-free safari experience.
